ONE of the major high street banking giants has revealed plans to move into a former coffee shop unit next to The Broadway shopping centre.
TSB has submitted a planning application for the former Esquires Coffee shop on the pedestrianised section of Broadway.
The coffee chain announced the temporary closure of its Bradford branch, in the Exchange development next to Broadway, earlier this year. In March the company revealed it would not be re-opening.
A planning application has now been submitted by TSB for the “fit out of an existing retail unit into a TSB retail branch".
A separate application for TSB signage on the 1,550-square-foot unit has been submitted.
The Telegraph & Argus asked TSB what this proposed new branch would mean for the bank’s existing city centre branch on the bottom of Ivegate.
A spokesperson replied: “At this stage in the process this is not something we are able to comment on.”
A decision on the application is expected next month.
In recent weeks this area of the city centre has seen the opening of Sakku Samba restaurant and the city centre’s first Pret a Manger branch.
Warren James jewellers is due to open imminently in an empty unit at the Broadway entrance to the shopping centre.
