A HARDY group braved the elements at Bradford Bulls’ home ground to sleep out in aid of a number of homeless charities.

The Big Bradford Bulls Sleepout saw a group of more than 50 people brave gusty winds, hail, torrential rain and freezing temperatures at Odsal Stadium. The event, held on January 14, started at 4pm and the group left the stadium at 9am the following day.

Ian Stafford, Bradford Bulls commercial manager, said: “It was a real challenge, but nothing compared to what the homeless people go through on a daily basis.

“I just hope the publicity will raise the awareness.”

All funds made from the night will be split between three West Yorkshire charities. Calderdale SmartMove, which supports homeless and vulnerable people throughout Calderdale, will be among the beneficiaries.

Focus4Hope, which provides support for homeless, elderly, isolated and vulnerable people across West Yorkshire will also benefit from the sleepout.

Homeless Not Hopeless, an organisation which offers practical support to homeless people and those in need in the Bradford area will be the third and final charity to receive sponsorship cash from the event.

The event was the first multi-charity sleepout event held at the home of the Betfred Championship side.
