FANS can take part in a Bradford Bulls home fixture with a difference by sleeping out in aid of a number of homeless charities.

The Big Bradford Bulls Sleepout will see hardy souls brave the winter elements by taking part.

It will be held at Odsal Stadium on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 5pm and it is priced at £10 each to take part. The overnight challenge will finish at 7am on Sunday, January 15.

All funds made from the night will be split between three West Yorkshire charities. Calderdale SmartMove, which supports homeless and vulnerable people throughout Calderdale, will be among the beneficiaries.

Focus4Hope, which provides support for homeless, elderly, isolated and vulnerable people across West Yorkshire will also benefit from the sleepout.

Homeless Not Hopeless, an organisation which offers practical support to homeless people and those in need in the Bradford area will be the third and final charity to receive sponsorship cash from the event.

Bulls will be providing entertainment throughout the evening for the hardy souls who take part at Odsal before participants all bed down to try and get some sleep in the cold weather.

There will be a hot food stall on-site if anyone wishes to buy food or drinks on the night, and participants are also more than welcome to bring their own.

The event is the first multi-charity sleepout event held at the home of the Betfred Championship side.

Luke Mawson, Bradford Bulls’ head of communications, says it will be cold at Odsal come the night that the event takes place in January, so the difficult conditions for participants will help them fully appreciate what homeless people have to experience during the winter on a daily basis.

He said: “We are delighted to host this challenge.

“It’s a very difficult challenge. It is cold at the best of times at this stadium, as our fans will point out.

“The fact we are doing it in January shows we are serious about making it as hostile as possible.

“We are looking forward to it and experiencing it as a club and hosting as well and doing some really good things for really good charities that do a lot of good work for people who are homeless and other charities.

“We will have to wrap up warm for it.”
