PART of a major Bradford road will be closed for nearly a month by Northern Powergrid.

The westbound lane of Queen’s Road will be closed while the company works towards completing a huge £30 million project to upgrade the district’s electricity network.

The work, which started in September 2019, has involved excavating the road to lay  around 91 mile of new underground electricity cables, with a route length of almost 12 miles.

Where will the closure be and what is the diversion route?

Northern Powergrid said its contractor, Excalon, has just a few small sections of work to complete between now and late Spring 2023.

A spokesperson said: “As part of these final works, the westbound lane of A6177 Queen’s Road (heading towards Manningham) will be closed between the junction of King’s Road and the junction of Midland Road from Monday, November 14 until Wednesday, December 7. The eastbound lane will remain open.

“A signposted diversion will be in place along King’s Road, A6037 Canal Road, A6181 Hamm Strasse and Manningham Lane.

“There are no plans to turn off anyone’s power as part of this work. Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times and vehicle access for businesses will be maintained via the eastbound lane of Queen’s Road.”
