KING Charles’ visit to Bradford has been described as a “terrific honour” for the city.

His Majesty will visit Morrisons’ headquarters on Gain Lane and City Hall.

In a statement, Councillor Martin Love, the Lord Mayor of Bradford, said: "It is a terrific honour for Bradford to be among the first places that our new King will visit.

“We are looking forward to showing off our great city and introducing King Charles to some of the exceptional people from across our district.  

“We are a young, diverse, vibrant and very welcoming place and I am certain that our royal guest will be impressed and will have an enjoyable time.”

What will King Charles III see on his visit to Morrisons’ Bradford headquarters?

On arrival to the supermarket’s headquarters on Gain Lane, The King will be received by The Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire Ed Anderson who will present Morrisons’ chief executive David Potts.

King Charles, accompanied by Mr Potts, will proceed into the headquarters to view Morrisons farming, sustainability and retail initiatives including their rare breed programme and the recently launched carbon-neutral eggs.

He will also hear about Morrisons’ approach to helping their customers with the cost-of-living crisis and the work they do to support the communities they serve.

The King will meet representatives from The Prince’s Countryside Fund, and Mr Potts will present Keith Halstead, Executive Director of The Prince’s Countryside Fund, as well as farmers who have been supported through The Prince’s Farm Resilience Programme.

He will view some of Morrisons’ Market Street fresh food counters and talk to some of Morrisons own skilled butchers, bakers and fishmongers and will also see new produce in the test and development kitchen

Mr Potts will introduce His Majesty to colleagues in the atrium and before departing, The King will unveil a plaque.

When King Charles III arrives in Centenary Square next week, he will be welcomed with a performance from the City of Bradford Brass Band.

Musical Director Johnathan Bates will lead, while students from the Punjabi Roots Academy will also be playing dhol drums.

His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Ed Anderson will present The King to a civic line that will include the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Martin Love and Kersten England, Chief Executive of Bradford Council.

The King, accompanied by The Lord Mayor and Ms England, will proceed into the City Hall for a reception with young leaders from across the Bradford district who have achieved success as entrepreneurs, in media and culture, who have been active in community work, or who are successful sports people.

Upon departure, the City Hall Bells will play On Ilkla Moor Baht'at.
