POLICE have seized a large serrated dagger while working with the immigration agency.
West Yorkshire Police's Operation Jemlock Team was launched in 2019 and is a dedicated initiative focused on targeting knife and violent crime.
The unit has been working with UKBA (UK Visas and Immigration) over the past week and has seized a number of weapons.
This includes a large serrated dagger, which the team shared on its Twitter page yesterday afternoon.
A picture of the blade, alongside a sheath, shows its sheer size.
There is a ballpoint pen placed next to the knife in the photo to give an idea of how big it is and the dagger is almost three times the size of it.
Operation Jemlock hit a landmark last December when the team seized six weapons - including an axe - which took the total to more than 1,000.
Earlier that year, in September, the initiative ticked over 6,000 arrests too.
Jemlock was created after the Chief Constable, John Robins QPM met with the Home Secretary and other chief officers in March 2019.
Following that meeting, a number of police forces were given additional Home Office funding to tackle the issue of serious violence, as well as in April 2020.
