A MAJOR road is closed this morning due to a "police incident".

Broadstone Way in Holme Wood is closed in both directions from Knowles Lane to Landscove Avenue. 

LATEST: Teen arrested after man seriously injured on Bradford estate

Cordons are blocking the road and several police vehicles have been at the scene throughout the morning.

Traffic is able to go down Knowles Lane and Horsham Road. 

The nature of the incident is not clear. 

People living close by said they had woken up to the sight of the police presence.

One man told the T&A: "It's the same old thing round here.

"You feel like you can't let your kids out of your sight.

"My eldest, he walks to school and when there's something like this you feel alarmed.

"It's one thing after another."

Another resident added: "You get used to it around here.

"It's scary for the kids."

One woman said: "The police aren't letting on what's happened."

"I grew up here but it was never this bad," she added.

West Yorkshire Police has been contacted for further details - we now have a full statement​.

The 608 bus service is currently terminating at Lymington Drive and the 617 and 618 services are operating via Holme Wood Road and Copgrove Road, tweeted First West Yorkshire.
