A BRADFORD MP and the deputy mayor for West Yorkshire surveyed the damage of an arson attack that destroyed a bus in a children's play area at Holme Wood.

There was devastation earlier this week when a double-decker bus donated by First to the Valley Project in Holme Wood was destroyed in an early-hours fire on Wedneday.

Inspector Andy Thornton and PCSO Birmingham conducted a walk-around the Holme Wood estate yesterday (Friday) with Bradford South MP Judith Cummins and West Yorkshire Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime Alison Lowe.

A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Police said: "The Valley Project was visited to view the damage caused through recent criminal events but also the positive work that they do and will continue to provide within the local community in terms of youth work and support.

"West Yorkshire Police and partner agencies are committed to tackling the ongoing issues and anti-social behaviour and criminality that may be raising concerns in the community.

"We would like to thank Judith and Alison for their time."

West Yorkshire Police confirmed the fire was being treated as arson and today confirmed a teenager had been arrested in connection with the incident.
