READ: Man who was in Lamborghini which set on fire after M62 crash battling for his life

MAJOR travel disruption across West Yorkshire this evening after a vehicle collision involving a Lamborghini Aventador. 

Emergency services were scrambled to the scene after a report of a collision on the central reservation on the M62 Westbound carriageway, close to Junction 25. 

A Lamborghini Aventador and a Mazda CX-5 were involved.

Two passengers from the Lamborghini have been taken to hospital for further treatment.

The M62 Westbound is closed and traffic is at a standstill between J25 A644 Wakefield Road, Brighouse and J24 A629, Ainley Top.

Traffic is building up at J27, Gildersome and Geldered Road as drivers head in that direction to avoid the road closure.

Delays of up to an hour are expected.

The incident happened at around 4pm and diversions are in place. 

National Highways England reported the incident would be cleared by 10pm.

A traffic app reported: "M62 Westbound closed, queueing traffic due to vehicle fire and smoke blowing across the road between J25 A644 Wakefield Road (Brighouse) and J24 A629 (Ainley Top).

"Congestion to J27 (Gildersome) and Geldered Road as traffic avoids the closure. Closed around 16:20. Trapped traffic remains in place. Diversion: Diversion via North Huddersfield through Bradley and Fixby. Roads around here are already busy."

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 5.11pm today (Monday), police received a report of a vehicle which was in collision with the central reservation on the M62 Westbound carriageway, close to Junction 25.

"Emergency services attended and established the collision involved two cars – a Lamborghini Aventador and a Mazda CX-5.

"Two people from the Lamborghini have been taken to hospital for further treatment.

"No other injuries were reported and enquiries are ongoing at the scene.

"A road closure is currently in place and motorists are being advised to avoid the area at this time."
