MAJOR roadworks along a popular commuting route between Bradford and Leeds are expected to cause delays this month.

Sections of Bradford Road and A647 Dick Lane Westbound in Thornbury will be closed for the next 19 days.

Grange Avenue is also likely to be affected, according to a notice on the Bradford Council website.

Northern Gas Networks has closed some lanes for utility repair and maintenance works until August 19.

The first day of closures hit drivers at peak times on Monday morning.

Motorists faced severe delays between nine and 14 minutes with an average reported speed of five mph in the area.

The AA’s traffic section reads: “Slow traffic on A647 Leeds Road Westbound at Grange Avenue.”
