Kirklees Council has unveiled a series of special refuse wagons ahead of Huddersfield’s first Pride event since Covid-19.

Backing the Pride in Kirklees event, the Council’s fleet will spread messages of support and positivity throughout different towns and villages across the area.

Kirklees Pride is taking place in Huddersfield town centre on Saturday, July 9 from 12.30pm onwards.

There will also be events and activities at Lawrence Batley Theatre and King Street in the Town Centre, followed by the Pride after party at RAIN bar, King Street.

Councillor Will Simpson, cabinet member for Culture and Greener Kirklees, said: “We are delighted to be a part of a wonderful Kirklees Pride event this year.

“We want to demonstrate our commitment to our diverse community and that there is no place for hate.”

The refuse wagons will be out and about from Monday July 3, each with a different message of inclusivity and support.
