BRADFORD is looking ahead to a major event in the city centre this weekend which will aim to promote diversity and inclusivity.

Performances, market stalls and food will be on offer as the district celebrates Bradford Pride on Saturday.

Bradford Pride month ran from June 1 to June 30 and featured a range of events, including film screenings, youth groups, parades and parties.

This weekend’s celebration, however, is the main event, and will take place in Centenary Square from 12pm to 7pm.

A parade before the event was also scheduled, but has now been cancelled.

Organiser Leon Fleming said: “Bradford Pride is all about the visibility of the LGBTQ+ people in the region.

“It’s about showing who we are and how many of us there are across the district.

“Unfortunately, the parade has been cancelled this year – but we will be working to make sure it goes ahead next year.

“But the main event is still happeniong. We have a main stage with performers, we have market stalls, food and an amazing youth area.

“We are looking forward to what will be a brilliant event.”
