LABOUR Party leader Sir Keir Starmer has sent his congratulations to Bradford following its City of Culture 2025 victory.
Bradford was named as the next City of Culture host location by Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries in a live TV ceremony last night.
A huge crowd cheered and celebrated the news in an event held in City Park last night.

Sir Keir extended his congratulations to Bradford, praising the city’s heritage.
He reacted to a tweet from West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin.
Sir Keir tweeted: “Congratulations, Bradford for becoming the UK’s City of Culture for 2025.
“A huge success for a city built on rich history, art and culture.”
Earlier, Ms Brabin posted: “I'm absolutely delighted that Bradford will be the UK’s City of Culture in 2025. Not only is this huge for the fantastic people of Bradford, but for everyone across West Yorkshire. #CityofCulture2025 #Bradford2025.”
Sir Keir’s praise for Bradford followed Prime Minister Boris Johnson also sending his congratulations.
The Prime Minister tweeted: “Congratulations to the city of Bradford on becoming the UK’s City of Culture for 2025.
“This title builds on the rich history and dynamism of the city, bringing investment and opportunity for everyone who lives and works there.”
