LATEST NEWS: Police appeal after 11-year-old pedestrian is rushed to hospital with head injury
A road in Kirklees has been closed for at least five hours following a police incident.
Officers are stood guard on Miry Lane, in the Thongsbridge area of Holmfirth, tonight.
The road is closed from its junction with the main A6024 Huddersfield Road to its junction with Heys Road.
Suggestions on social media indicate that a pedestrian may have been injured in an accident on the road.
One onlooker said: "There's obviously been a very serious incident as the road has been closed for several hours.
"As you look from Huddersfield Road, you can see more flashing blue lights higher up Miry Lane, on the left-hand corner as you go up the hill after crossing the River Holme, so perhaps it's happened up there, towards Longlands Bank.
"I hope everyone is alright, but you start to worry a bit when a road is closed for that long. Police are at either end and aren't letting cars through.
"I heard it happened at around tea time."
Police are yet to issue a statement on the incident.
