A THIRD FLOOD alert has been issued for areas in and around Bradford.

The Environment Agency announced that the Upper River Calder water levels could rise again tonight.

This could lead to severe flooding in Brighouse and water coverage in the likes of Wyke and Queensbury.

People are being urged to "be prepared" by the Government agency.

This comes after two flood alerts were issued for other Bradford areas earlier today.

Regarding this latest alert, The Environment Agency said: "River levels in the Upper Calder responded to the rainfall yesterday and this morning, but have since dropped.

"Another front is forecast to pass over from around 5pm through till just after 9pm.

"There is potential that this precipitation may fall as snow, but if it falls as rain, we will see a response from rivers.

"As a result, this Alert remains in force as a rise in levels may see flooding of low-lying roads and farmland.

"We do not currently anticipate that the rain will result in flood warnings.

"Please plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded, and avoid contact with floodwater.

"We are closely monitoring the situation from our incident room."
