OLD equipment from the Richard Dunn sports centre is being passed on to community organisations.

The sports centre at Odsal shut in November after the opening of the nearby Sedbergh Leisure Centre, and is due to be demolished in April.

With the new leisure centre featuring state of the art new equipment, many community groups have contacted Bradford Council about taking on the equipment from the 40 year old Richard Dunn Centre, including weights and other sports gear.

The Council says a number of groups have contacted them to offer new homes for the equipment, but warned that there is only a limited amount of gear left.

The centre is based after Bradford heavyweight boxer Richard Dunn, who famously fought Muhammad Ali.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “There is only a small amount of equipment left from the old Richard Dunn Sports Centre.

"We have had approaches from a number of community organisations and will be in touch with them about what they are looking for and what we can give to them but there is limited equipment available.”
