TWO Bradford photographers have been given exclusive access to record the empty Richard Dunn Sports Centre, before the bulldozers roll in.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

With the building's demolition looking likely to take place in April, Telegraph & Argus Camera Club members Neil Terry and Simon Sugden took the opportunity to photograph the empty main pool and gym, as well as some behind-the-scenes areas.

Neil said: "When you walk around this empty, cavernous building, you can't help but think of all the people that will have come here over the years to learn to swim, learn to play football, badminton, etc.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"You also are aware of all the people that will have used the facilities there to start or continue their way to a healthier and fitter self.

"It's amazing to think this building was still very well used until very recently, and now it appears to be abandoned, unloved and fading from our memories.

"This is why I wanted to photograph it before any demolition work started. Sadly, walking around the building you hear the ghosts of children splashing in the pool and screaming as they go down the slides.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"You also hear the ghosts of the squash ball bouncing off the walls and the screech of the rubber from the trainers on the wooden floor on the badminton courts.

Simon added: "It's such a iconic building and means so much to the people of Bradford.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"Going in felt sad and also strange to see the pool empty. It's such a large building and it was amazing to be able to document this place once busy with families."
