IN a week when it was revealed that a supermarket was linking up with a housebuilder in a plan to create low-cost housing, we look at a solution for Glasgow's housing shortage at the end of the Second World War.

Prefabricated houses, 'prefabs' for short, sprung up across the city to accommodate bombed out families.

Cheap and easy to erect they were meant to be a short-term solution to the housing problem. In reality, many families lived in prefabs for years.

If you lived in a prefab, drop us a line and tell us your memories of the "homes fit for heroes".
