Brighton Cat Killer Steve Bouquet terrorised pet owners around Brighton and Hove when he went on a killing spree leaving at least nine cats dead and seven more with injuries.

The string of attacks in the city left police stumped.

He was eventually caught in May 2019 on a CCTV camera set up by the owner of a cat that was killed the year before.

Bouquet stood trial at Hove Crown Court and was convicted of 16 offences of criminal damage in relation to the cats, and possession of a knife.

At least nine cats – Hendrix, Tommy, Hannah, Alan, Nancy, Gizmo, Kyo, Ollie and Cosmo – were killed while another seven were injured.

He spent his final days in prison before being sent to the Maritime Medway Hospital in Gillingham, where he died on January 6, 2022.
