Shipley people are being urged to join an 11th hour protest to try and influence the fate of Shipley Hospital. Bradford Health Authority is to discuss the threatened closure on May 10 and is expected to give its final decision on the matter.

The award of the George Medal for saving the life of an officer has been given to Flight-Sergeant John Rodney Lees, son of Mr and Mrs W D Lees, of Guiseley.
He figured prominently in the rescue of an injured army officer in Snowdonia in January this year.
