Scenes in a school war play have been branded as macabre and barbaric by a youth group leader. Ian Wilkie said he was appalled to see children at Bradford's Eccleshill School involved in the play Peace last week. The play included the pupils dressed as solders killing a man, a naked baby covered in blood, foul language and human skulls on a wooden wheel.
Head teacher James Wootton said it was not bad taste.

An attempted burglary at a hotel in the centre of Bradford failed when the raider was disturbed. He left behind two carrier bags containing 1,500 cigarettes and bottles of spirits he had taken from a cupboard which he forced open in the lower bar of the Talbot Hotel in Kirkgate.
