25 Years Ago: Soap star Ken Morley had crossed the Pennines to meet fans at a shop reopening. The actor who played Reg Holdsworth in Coronation Street, had spent two hours signing autographs during the ceremony at Charlie Brown’s Autocentre in Guiseley.
50 Years Ago: Laurence Harvey and Joan Cohn, widow of the former president of Columbia Pictures, had finally taken out a marriage licence. The subject of marriage speculation several for years, Mrs. Cohn had once given Mr. Harvey an initialled lavender Rolls Royce as a birthday present.
