25 Years Ago: Campaigners battling to keep threatened Woodlands Orthopaedic Hospital open had handed over a 770-name petition to health chiefs. The petition, signed by people from all over Bradford and Leeds, was handed to David Jackson by former patient Dorothy Wilkinson.
50 Years Ago: Bradford Park Avenue Football Club’s £10,000 appeal had been given an unexpected boost with a cheque for 100 guineas from a Lancashire businessman! Wishing to remain anonymous, the ‘mystery benefactor’ admitted that he had a natural sympathy for a club going through hard times.
