25 Years Ago: A 13-stone rottweiler had been placed in council kennels awaiting its fate after being rounded up by dog wardens. Wandering around Buttershaw, followed by a small pack, the dog had been allowed to roam free. If not claimed, the dog would have to be put down due to its size.
50 Years Ago: Ray Illingworth had ended his Yorkshire career on a triumphant note in Scarborough by taking seven for 73 in 21 overs against MCC. It had been considered as the best bowling performance of the season and had lifted his aggregate to 131.
