25 years ago: Bradford Council’s Tory ruling group announced £6.5 million of cuts as it unveiled its latest budget, including £1 million slashed from schools and colleges, one of a series of moves labelled as “political suicide” by the authority’s Labour group.
50 years ago: A number of workers at H.C.Slingsby Ltd in Preston Street, Bradford, had to be helped from the building by firefighters and paramedics and taken to hospital after being overcome by fumes in a gas leak at the firm.
