From the Telegraph & Argus of January 22, 1982...A litter of mongrel puppies have been given a new chance in life, thanks to the Telegraph & Argus. The six pups were due to be taken to the RSPCA unless homes could be found for them. Their plight was featured in yesterday's T&A and last night owner Sandra Ward, of Yeadon, had 50 calls offering them homes. "The response was amazing. I am thrilled they have all found homes," she said.

From the Telegraph & Argus of January 22, 1957...Among 35 seamen engaged at a South Shields shipping office today to fly 12,000 miles to Sydney to join the cargo vessel Trident trading on the Australian coast was a Keighley lad.
Sixteen-year-old Peter Boocock, of South Street, Keighley, has just completed six weeks training at the Gravesend Sea Training school and the Trident will be his first ship. He will serve as a catering boy.
