From the Telegraph & Argus of January 12, 1982...three Anglo Saxon stone crosses could be moved inside Ilkley Parish Church for preservation. Members of West Yorkshire Recreation and arts Committee heard that there was concern about weathering and pollution. One of the monuments recently fell over and has already been moved inside the church.

A Shipley record dealer said: "The portable record-player has given the teenager a new independence.
