From the Telegraph & Argus of December 15, 1981...A location for an outdoor market has been suggested by a councillor who said £25,000 a year could be raised through rent alone. Councillor John Wells mooted Keighley Goods Yard as an ideal location to hold an open market. He said he would be urging Bradford Council to consider his proposals.

From the Telegraph & Argus of December 15, 1956...A portion of £10,500 trunk road lighting was switched on as part of a town's Christmas celebrations. As the Mayor of Keighley, Alderman John Taylor, flicked the switch to the fairy lights on the town's Christmas tree he also turned on some of the lights running along the highway. The rest of the streetlights will be completed and switched on in the New Year.
