From the Telegraph & Argus of December 13, 1981...Bradford's houses have increased in number by 10.4 per cent in 20 years. The statistics were revealed with the publication of the 1951 census today. It showed Bradford had 94,085 houses in 1951. The survey also showed that the number of houses in England and Wales had almost doubled since 1851 - with the new figure standing at 12,389,448 when the figures were collected.

From the Telegraph & Argus of December 13, 1956...Severe snow caused 150 people to seek shelter in a pub overnight. Snow across the district caused chaos on Bradford's roads and left the Cross Keys in Skipton providing a bed for the night to dozens of Christmas revellers.A depth of 10.5 inches of snow was recorded in Lister Park, Manningham, beating the previous December record of nine inches in 1965.
