The 22 young footballers in this photograph were, 50 years ago, members of St Bede’s Grammar School’s under-15 first and second teams.
Two of them, John Simpson (second from left in the back row) and Tony Verity (fourth from left in the front row), are organising an old boys’ reunion dinner next month and want as many of the players in this picture to come along.
Tony said: “Over the past few years 60 or 70 have turned up, but we could always do with a few more. Quite a few of us are still local, but others have gone off the radar.”
The dinner is being held at the Bradford Club, Piece Hall Yard, Bradford, BD1, on Friday, November 23.
As in the past, all former students are cordially invited, but a special invitation goes to the Old Boys who started at the school in 1958 and 1959, some of whom feature in this 1962 photograph to, in the words of John Simpson, “mark the occasion of them reaching or just about to reach the milestone of becoming OAPs”.
And of course to renew acquaintances with fellow students they may not have seen for many years.
Tickets cost £35 and may be obtained from either John (01274 676259 or 07989 842452) or Tony (01274 617229 or 07951 942485).
