A letter reaches us from Inverness in Scotland, from P Williams, an expatriate who has also lived in the USA between his time in Bradford and his new home north of the border.
Coming back to the old homestead over Christmas, he decided to visit some of his old haunts. He writes: “I went to the Mail Coach pub in Odsal to see if I could catch up with the latest info on the football team.
“In my playing days we were lucky to win many games, but we enjoyed ourselves, no matter what the score.
“But as I approached the sliproad to Odsal from Huddersfield Road I was totally shocked to see vans parked where the pub once stood. It used to be a well-used pub on match days for the Bulls.”
But there is a happy ending to Mr Williams’s story, as he learned from his family. “A group of lads have started the Sunday team up again and are having nothing but success. The name Mailcoach is not a laughing matter any more.”
