BARRY HANSON has sent in a photograph of Thornbury Primary School’s cricket team which won the Bradford league title in 1950.
He writes: “How sad it is to see from the Bradford Moor bus the flattened ground where Thornbury Infants and Primary School once stood.
“I’m sure there are thousands of ex-pupils who look back with fond memories of their time spent there.
“The staff at the school created a wonderful happy ethos where the children responded well, I remember Mr Mann, Mr Jones, Mr Dumphy and the kind Miss Davies.
“Thornbury’s sporting prowess was legendary, run by Mr Harry Mann and Mr Jones.
“The photograph shows the overall Bradford league winners of 1950 for which I kept wicket. We also won in 1951. The teams excelled at both football and cricket. Some of the boys in the team are now gone, but still remembered.”
