Telegraph & Argus Wednesday 13, April 1977:
Actor Warren Mitchell, had a taken a pop at theatre bosses in true Alf Garnett style. Apparently, his comments had been unprintable, after he criticised City Hall’s theatre bosses for not sufficiently publicising his show “The Thoughts of Chairman Alf” at the Alhambra, Bradford. According to Mr. Mitchell, “my manager had walked five miles and didn’t see one single poster for this show. About 200 posters were sent here, but since this is a subsidised theatre they do absolutely nothing to promote the show” and just like Garnett he wasn’t pulling any punches. “Last night it was a riot but there were fewer than 200 people in the audience,” said Mr. Mitchell.
