Bradford’s Matt Wells, Guiseley’s Debbie Flood and Andy Hodge from Hebden, near Skipton, take part in the final Great Britain rowing team winter assessment on the 2012 Olympic course at Dorney Lake this weekend.

Successful rowers will receive an invitation to the final trials in April and be one step closer to a place in the senior squad.

Olympic champion Hodge wants to stamp his authority in the men’s pairs, while Olympic bronze medallist Wells (pictured) won a silver medal with Marcus Bateman last year in the double scull.

Flood, a four-time world champion and double Olympic silver medallist, said: “We have had a good winter so far with a lot of hard training, so I am looking forward to the trials and racing again.

“It is a good chance to see where we are individually ranked this year and how our training is progressing. They are, of course, an important stepping stone towards the final trials in April and selection into crew boats for the World Championships in Slovenia, as well as it being an Olympic qualifying year.”

The time trials and semi-finals are on Saturday, with the finals on Sunday.
