A group of girls from Ben Rhydding hockey club finished third in a top European beach hockey tournament in Belgium.
The girls, who teamed up with players from Leeds Met University, had never played the sport before and were last-minute stand-ins for the Great Britain team, who had to pull out when their coach broke down.
They even beat the highly-fancied Germans 4-3 on their passage to the semi-finals – not bad considering their inexperience and the fact they only had three days’ notice.
