Thirteen-year-old Mathew Stubley recently umpired at the Yorkshire Youth Hockey League under-16 girls play-offs.
He took charge of three group games and the semi-final between eventual winners Wakefield and Doncaster.
Mathew began as a player and has represented West Yorkshire and completed the EH Pathway to Excellence for young umpires.
He will represent Bradford at the north finals as an umpire, supporting Bradford hockey club’s under-12 boys. A confident performance there may result in selection for the national finals in May.
