Bingley Bees men had to come from behind three times before seeing off a stronger than expected Slazenger 3rds 5-4.

The pick of the Bees goals came from skipper Benjamin Clough, who dribbled from halfway before placing his shot into the bottom corner.

Matthew Clough scored the other four, his best a superbly struck short corner.

The whole squad worked hard, with Robbie Manning – playing in a new midfield position – named man of the match.

Bees Ladies 1sts beat Ben Rhydding 2-0.

The pitch was completely shrouded in an eerie frozen mist and resembled a scene from James Herbert’s The Fog.

A win and nothing less was what they needed after their recent double loss.

Happily the Bees girls were in killer form and it wasn’t long before the first goal came from a short corner set-piece.

After Gail Day unbalanced the young Rhydding keeper with a mishit strike, Claire Watkins capitalised off the pads with a clever reverse flick into the top corner.

Bees’ fluid passing made for a really enjoyable match to watch and the supporters felt it was one of the team’s best performances of the season.

Kirsty Matthews put in a sparkling performance in goal with her intelligent interceptions and confident saves, making short work of any attempts on goal.

Stepping up the pressure second half, a no-nonsense build-up from a 16-yard hit involving only three passes between Fran Nichols, Mel Burgess and Gaynor Fisher led to Fisher blasting goalward. The ball rose up off an opposing foot, sailed over the keeper’s head into the path of the waiting Burgess, who calmly pushed it home.

Bees Ladies 2nds were at home to Horsforth and they were fired up following a white board session at Wednesday’s training.

Fluid play allowed Jane Sharkey to open the scoring ten minutes into the first half.

A stunning reverse flick from Emma Hinkles found the top corner to make it 2-0 before Horsforth pulled one back.

Hinkles scored her second to make the half-time score 3-1.

Sarah Partington tried in vain to score in her last match with the Bees but it was left to Sharkey to collect the final goal with a shot that rebounded in off the far post.
