BINGLEY Bees kept their unbeaten record for 2017 by getting their third successive victory in Yorkshire Women's Division Two.
Having lost 4-3 at home to Wakefield Wanderers earlier in the season, the Bees won the return fixture 2-0 at Wakefield Sports Club.
However, initially the visitors could not get past the Wanderers keeper, whose saves included preventing a sure-fire goal from Rachel Belk.
Mel Burgess was injured at the start of the second half, causing a Bees reshuffle, but when Burgess came back on she played higher up the pitch, resulting in a goal for Rachael Holdsworth, from a Burgess assist, and a goal for Burgess herself.
Bingley are now seventh, six points and three places above the highest of the three demotion places, while Wakefield are fifth.
While relegation looks a certainty for the club's men in Yorkshire Division Four North, at least they picked up a point at home to fifth-placed Leeds Adel Thirds after a 2-2 draw.
The hosts had a strong team available for the clash at Bradford Grammar School and, in what was a fairly even start, the Bees successfully defended a number of short corners, with George Holmes leading the way.
The hosts had their chances as well, thanks to good link-up play in midfield, but also failed to take them. However, the Bees' pressure eventually told, with Jason Johnson scoring.
Leeds Adel equalised with a deflected shot after half-time and then took the lead with a well-worked short-corner routine.
Yet Bingley did not let their heads drop and were rewarded with a lovely finish by David Booth.
Both teams then went for the winner but it remained at 2-2, despite the home side having the more clear-cut chances.
* Despite being promoted to Under-Tens Division C, the Mini Bees won three games and drew one.
They beat Bridlington 3-0, Chapeltown 2-0 and Ben Rhydding 2-0, drawing 0-0 with Leeds Adel.
Alex was named the Mini Bees' man of the match, while Georgia won the coaches' award.
