THIRD-bottom Bingley Bees, who had not met second-placed Wakefield Wanderers for some time, were unlucky to be pipped 4-3 as the visitors were left hanging on at the end.

The Bees took an early lead in the Yorkshire Women's Division Two clash via a clean strike by Anna Bowker and this was the signal for the home side to dominate and even overpower their visitors.

It was only Wakefield's keeper who kept them in it as in-form Bees skipper Rachel Holdsworth and Maddy Silberberg led the charge.

However, a lapse in concentration by stand-in Bees keeper Emma Baker allowed Wanderers to equalise before half-time.

The visitors made some tactical changes during the interval and took charge as Baker was left without cover.

Yet Holdsworth scored twice and a determined Lillian Allen in defence ensured there were no further concessions by the Bees.

But they ran out of time in their attempt to equalise and, hovering just above the relegation positions, could do with points from today's match at mid-table Thirsk Seconds.
