BRADFORD Hockey Club's under-14 team have reached their play-offs later this month, capping a season of hard work in which they topped Division Two of the Yorkshire Youth Hockey League.
After receiving a walkover from Slazengers, Bradford, whose team includes several under-11s and under-12s, defeated Harrogate 3-0, with goals from Pratham Wasnik, Harry Higgins and Gabby Doyle, to set up a clash with Sheffield.
Bradford knew that a draw or a win would be enough for them to qualify from the Ben Rhydding event and, after many a heart-stopping moment, they secured a 0-0 draw to go through.
At least four decent attempts were saved by the Sheffield keeper, while, at the other end, Niran Tejura made a superb save from a penalty flick and Ghananshu Zalke made an excellent goal-line clearance.
On Sunday, March 20, eight clubs in Division One and Division Two – the highest in which girls can play – will meet to settle the overall championship at Halifax High School.
