Bingley Harriers are organising West Yorkshire Sportshall Athletics selection meetings at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre, Odsal in the new year.

The under-11 trials are on Sunday, January 8 and the under-13 and under-15 trials are a fortnight later, also at 2pm.

Two boys’ teams and two girls’ teams are needed at under-11s to represent the county, and primary schools and athletics networks have been invited to encourage as many to take part.

All Bradford primary schools have been circulated and it is hoped that they will send their best six boys and best six girls from Years Five and Six, while promising Year Three and Year Four pupils can also come along for the experience, although they cannot qualify for a team place.

Under-13s and under-15s are aiming towards being picked by West Yorkshire for the Yorkshire regional finals in Halifax in February.

In recent years, all four West Yorkshire teams have won the regional finals and travelled to the national finals at the LG Arena in Birmingham and come home with medals.

It is hoped that the strongest pupils from Year Six to Year Ten will be competing to help West Yorkshire pick their best sides.

Schools and clubs in the West Yorkshire area have been circulated for a sport that is enjoyable, fun, warm and safe.

Boys and girls aged 11 and under the age of 15 as at August 31, 2011 are welcome to enter with their school or as individuals if their school has not been circulated.

Entry fee for the afternoon is £3, which includes free admission to the sports centre for a junior and up to two adults, and entry forms can be downloaded from www.bingleyharriers.org.uk.

They should arrive with organisers Alan or Christine Oates before the day, although numbers can be collected on the day as a last resort.

Information is available from Alan or Christine Oates, of Bingley Harriers, on 01274-416286.
