IAN Hutchinson, a triple Isle of Man winner this year, had to settle for third place in yesterday’s big climax – the senior TT.

The Bingley Bullet, who had previously won the two Supersport races and the 600cc race on his comeback on the island after five years out following a serious accident that nearly cost him a leg, was third behind John McGuinness and John Hillier.

McGuinness equalled Mike Hailwood’s tally of seven TT victories and also broke successive lap records with 131.850mph on the first and 132.731mph on the second.

The top 11 finishers all broke the 130mph barrier on the final lap, including Bradford’s Dean Harrison, who had a week to forget.

Dean Harrison was 31st in the RST Superbike race and 13th in the RL 360 Superstock, while his dad Conrad Harrison and Mike Aylott were third and fourth in the Sure Sidecar races. Dean’s brother Adrian was 37th in the Monster Energy Supersport race one.
