BRADFORD No1 AA

Last Saturday saw 18 juniors fishing a junior match at Raskelf Lake. The under-17s section was won by Matt Foster with 14lb 7oz, Joel Harris (11lb 13oz) came second and third was Connor Mahoney (9lb 8oz). The under-11s was won by Harry Reilly with 14lb 14oz and Bethany Wright (11lb 11oz) was second. The next junior match is on Saturday, July 17 at Willow Hall, Sowerby Bridge. The result of the committee match at Raskelf on Sunday was as follows: 1 Simon Freer 49lb 4oz, 2 Ian Bradley 32lb 8oz, 3 Eric Thomas 30lb 3oz, 4 Simon Foster 29lb 8oz. This is a new six-hour match record for the venue. The F Gibson Memorial Trophy for the biggest fish was won by Foster with a tench weighing 2lb 2oz. Raskelf Lake is shut on Sunday for a veterans match. Tickets are still available from Foster on 01274-571175. Cowthorpe is fishing well for big nets of barbel, with one angler catching 14 in a single day. Chub have been reported caught from the Cornmill section of the River Calder. The River Aire at Broughton is fishing well for chub, trout and grayling.

LISTERHILLS AA

There is a meeting of the National Championship team on Monday at 8pm. Result of practice on the Erewash Canal: 1 R Scholefield 7lb 2oz, 2 E Harrison 5lb 1oz, 3 J Sedgwick 3lb. The evening match at Pilley’s Dam was won by E Harrison with a catch of 11lb 6oz, comprising a bream and three tench. The open match at Rodley was dominated by small fish: 1 R Thornton 3lb 4oz, 2 N Smith 2lb 15oz, 3 E Harrison 2lb 6oz, 4 W Baker 2lb 4oz. Sunday’s match at Pilley’s Dam is for members. The gate opens at 8.30am, with the draw at 8.45am. Anglers fishing for carp must have an adequate landing net and carry a disgorger or forceps. Recent catches include carp to 15lb. WASHBURN VALLEY

The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 6lb 2oz rainbow trout by John Passelow using g/h bloodworm. Other fish of note: 3lb+ seven, 4lb+ three, 5lb+ two, 6lb+ two. Washburn Valley: Water levels are low due to warm weather. There is plenty of bank space. Nymphs, buzzers and dry fly are tempting fish. Thruscross: Wild browns are elusive at this time of year. Early-morning tactics on small fly. Catch details (week ending June 27) – Day ticket: Fewston 33, Swinsty 15, Thruscross (catch & return) 2; Total fish caught: Fewston 127, Swinsty 69, Thruscross 9; Average per rod: Fewston 3.8, Swinsty 4.6, Thruscross 4.5.

BRADFORD & DISTRICT SEA AC

Members who are booked on the trip to Pwllheli on Sunday should call Dave Taylor (07926-411103) this evening for a weather report. A replacement lock with a changed code was fitted to the gate at Tong Park on June 17. This is available to registered users on the website or by phone. Contact details in your yearbook.

Both sweetcorn and luncheon meat tins with no sign whatsoever of rust have been retrieved from the banks of the river, canal and lake within the last week. Anyone seen discarding these items will be banned from the club. There is a committee meeting on Monday at 7.30pm.

BRADFORD CITY AA

The small lake at Staveley will be closed on Sunday for a private charity match. The river season is now well underway and is producing some good catches. The first match of the 2010-11 river programme is on Sunday, July 11 on the River Ouse at Lower Dunsforth. Tickets are £15 all in, available from the match secretary on 07875-275749.
