HERMITS E moved off the bottom rung of the Division Two ladder as they finally achieved their first victory of the season in the Bradford League.

Richard Aitken has been a great new signing for Hermits this season and was influential as the E team overcame Hermits C 6-4.

The E team led 4-2 as Aitken had wins over Shamir Bose and Peter Holbrook, while Peter Eccles had a crucial success over Holbrook, coming from 2-0 down to win in five games.

Eccles also beat Zarnab Jamal to make it 4-2 – but Hermits C hit back to level at 4-4 through Holbrook and Bose.

Aitken completed another treble to take his tally to 27 games out of 30 as the E team scented victory, before he joined Eccles to gain a 3-0 doubles success and that elusive first win.

Hermits D made a great comeback to share the spoils 5-5 at Highdale B.

James Foster was in fine form for Highdale with three singles wins, George Bak and Mick Kosmowsky adding one each as their side led 5-2.

Hermits hit back to take the last two singles through Paul Mckrieth and Maurice Biott, with these two combining to complete the fightback in the doubles.

In Division Three, Hermits F also hit back from 5-2 down to share the points at Pudsey B.

Linda Sanderson led the Pudsey charge with three singles and one each from Steve and Kingsley Smith put them in control at 5-2.

Chris Town and David Campbell kept Hermits in contention with two each and this duo achieved parity by taking the doubles.
