Former Bingley Grammar School pupil Danielle Calthorpe has won the British Senior Solo Ice Dance Championship at Sheffield.
The 19-year-old from Cottingley, who went into the event merely hoping for a podium place, triumphed by a convincing margin over her eight rivals, three of whom were former champions.
Danielle, who is based in Delaware in the United States, warmed up for the national event by finishing third in the US Solo Ice Dance series in Baltimore.
She first started skating aged six under Sarah George at Bradford Ice Arena, but for the past 18 months has been working in America with former United States champion and Olympian Suzy Semanick.
Danielle is currently looking for an ice dance partner to compete for Great Britain at international level.
She can be contacted via suzysemanick@yahoo.com.
