Otley badminton club have gone from strength to strength, thanks to a grant from Sport England that has helped the club to grow from one member to 42 in a year.
The grant – for advertising, publicity and coaching – has also been used to help launch a junior club on a Saturday morning, with a series of coaching sessions run by Yorkshire Badminton Association coach Trevor Curtis and assistant coach James Dalby.
A total of 21 children have taken part in a ten-week course, which was primarily aimed at beginner and improver level.
The popularity of the intital sessions was such that a number of children have been placed on a waiting list, and it is intended to repeat the course later this year.
Those who want to attend but are not currently on the waiting list should contact the club’s press officer Steve Norfolk on 07860-242089 or go to info@ otleybadmintonclub.co.uk.
