Seishin-Ryu Karate Club enjoyed considerable success in the SKU Premier National Kata Championship.

The Bradford-based group won six gold medals, five silvers and two bronze during the tournament, which was held in Warrington.

Senior instructor Sensei Julian Tan, who successfully defended his open kata title, said: “I am very proud of all the students. They have all trained hard and deserve this result.”

Competitors travelled from all parts of the country to participate in the prestigious event.

Each student performed katas, a set combination of karate techniques, in front of a panel of judges within their grade and age divisions.

Seishin-Ryu Results – Gold: Sensei Julian Tan, Melissa Tan Swee Ling, Oliver Baxter, Karen Entwistle, Katelyn Entwistle, Adrian Lowes. Silver: Ling, Alex Bowman, Rob Yorke, Olivia Bruno, Matthew Crawshaw. Bronze: Trevor Kerridge, Francesca Li.

The Seishin-Ryu club are also proud to announce six newly-promoted black belt students: Kerridge (third dan), Andrew Cook (second), Kirsty Normington (second), Chloe Duggan (first), Jasmine Sidhu (first), Li (first).
