Bradford-born Scott Waites will face unseeded giant-killer Conan Whitehead in the quarter-finals of the BDO World Professional Darts Championship.
The two-time champion secured his place in the last eight after defeating Richard Veenstra 4-1 at Frimley Green.
The Dutchman took the opening set of the match, overturning a 2-0 deficit as he won the set against the throw.
A 79 and 101 checkout from Waites saw him take the second set and, though he missed double 18 for a 156 in the next, Veenstra couldn’t take advantage, as Waites - who works as a carpenter in Calderdale - took the lead.
A third 160 finish of the tournament saw Waites ease to victory, setting up a tie with Whitehead on Friday afternoon, who beat number one seed Mark McGeeney 4-0.
