Six members of Quest Taekwondo competed at the 34th A-Class Belgian Open tournament in Gent.

The Belgian Open is one of the oldest and most prestigous A-Class taekwondo tournaments in Europe, with nearly 1,400 competitors taking part from 49 countries.

Natasha Burdock, 15, from Silsden, was the star of the show for Quest, winning silver in the under-42kg Junior group – her 3rd A-Class medal from three competitions this season – eventually losing 3-0 to No 1 seed Giuliana Federici of Germany in the final.

Kieran Young, 18, from Woodside in Bradford, lost 8-2 to Janakan Sivakumar of Norway in the last 32 of the under-54kg Senior group.

Oxenhope’s Sam Finnigan (under-37kg Cadet) lost 10-1 to Spyro-Rafael Kostaras of Germany.

Jacob Barnett, competing in the under 68kg Junior group, drew 5-5 against Anes Acikel of Poland. The 17-year-old, from Baildon, then lost 1-0 after a golden point. Jacob's opponent registered two more victories before losing 1-0 in the final.

Skipton’s Harriet Akeroyd, competing in the under-52kg Junior group, lost 5-1 to Julia Lelito from Germany in the last 32, while Bingley’s Karl Harris (under-41kg Cadet) lost 5-0 to Ohad Bin Nun of Israel in the last 32.
