BRADFORD No 1 extended their lead at the top of Division One in snooker's Yorkshire Inter-District League with a 5-1 victory at Sheffield No 1.

Gareth Green was in particularly good form with two excellent frames against Joe Markie.

A clearance of 50 in frame one gave Green a 91-27 success and in frame two he was highly consistent, making breaks of 16, 26, 29 and a 57 clearance to claim a 132-8 victory and a 2-0 lead to the visitors.

Green's brother Anthony, a former Bradford Championship finalist who was fresh from his 4-2 victory against another former runner-up Mark Slater in this year's tournament, made a break of 38 to take his first frame 68-27 against Jason Evans.

Then, after falling 36 points behind in the next, Green put together a superb break of 43 before picking off the last few colours to win frame four 72-43.

Bradford's run of wins continued as Josh Walker put the side 5-0 up with a solid 70-2 victory, although opponent Carl Whitby stopped the rot and took the last frame of the night 67-0.

Bradford, who are four points clear, are due to play third-placed Leeds at home on Sunday, January 21.

In Division Two, Bradford No 2 are in action on Sunday when they take on Sheffield No 3, while the billiards side travel to Doncaster on Saturday looking to stay in touch at the top.
